Lala is incredible. The fact that Google uses it for its music searches has made the process of discovering music vastly more enjoyable/less illegal. I’m thrilled to see what Apple does with this.

I feel oddly energetic tonight, but I also feel that I could go straight to sleep at any moment.

I’ve been writing more music. Off the top of my head, I don’t really know how many new songs I have, but there’s a few. I do know I have three in open D tuning called Penanngalan, Cynical Sin, and Saffron Flower, and I really like all three of them. Penanngalan is almost a rap, with a steady beat held by just a single riff. It’s a good song to stomp to. Sample lyrics:

Cynical Sin is this weird jangly number with lots of shouting:

Saffron Flower is a song about the dangers of being spoiled or getting in debt or getting involved with the Russian mob or something. It’s really low-key, and I love to have it accompanied by my friend’s violin:

she bought a gold watch, depleted her trust fund cash
her parents don’t care that she’s got no place to live

I can’t wait until school is over and I can start doing real things. But in the meantime, I’m working hard at school and stressing intensely over my bad grades. It may be affecting my health. I’m definitely more nervous now. Whatever, that’s what the summer’s for.

Oh, and I’m going to have to start thinking about COLLEGE, that thing that can inspire so much hope and excitement and despair and fear in me. Just about everything about the college application process scares me, but I’ve decided that ideally I would go to an art school.

I really want to visit San Francisco again. Such a beautiful and inspiring city. I also really want to get out of San Diego, it’s beginning to feel like a massive jail. Mmm, vacation is in two weeks, hooray.

I saw Best Coast last Friday, and they opened with this song. Um. It was nice. I sang along to bits. They were playing at Art Fag Fest. I may or may not have offended the singer of Crocodiles by saying I ‘actually don’t like them that much’. I’m guessing I didn’t, the room was loud.
